Premium WordPress theme features run from responsive design to search engine optimization (SEO) and everything in between.
You’re paying extra for this theme, so it should help make your site maximally great, with minimal work from you.
There’s lots of great premium themes out there, but let’s cut to the chase. I use and love Elegant Themes so much! I used it to build websites, and it’s helped me, a non-coder, to build a career as a web designer/digital marketer (I know!).
But whether you choose Elegant Themes or something else, there is one key feature that your premium WordPress theme MUST have. Let’s explore.
The Most Important WordPress Theme Feature
If you’re like me and you don’t have a computer science degree, then one feature is waaaay more important than all the bells and whistles (although of course the bells and whistles are fun, too).
In a word: support. You want your WordPress theme makers to provide incredible, unbelievable, website-changing support.
Confession time: when I first chose Elegant Themes to help me build a website, I was a complete newbie. I was working as a social media manager and blogger, and probably shouldn’t have committed to build a website for my clients, given I had no idea what I was doing!
At the time, I chose Elegant Themes because of all those bells and whistles, and because they had (and still) have great reviews.
What I didn’t know at the time was how often I’d need support while building my site, especially at the beginning.
Like many premium themes, Elegant Themes keeps a library of all the questions they’ve been asked, and I’ll always check here first when I have questions.
But sometimes I can’t find an answer, and so I have to submit my question myself.
And what sets Elegant Themes apart is how responsive they are to my questions, and to all kinds of design issues.
They could easily say ‘we give you so many features, so take what you get.’ But on the contrary, they have worked with me to resolve every issue, from adding code to my header to centering a Youtube video in a custom layout.
Some of these issues required custom coding. I feel like by rights, the Elegant Themes team could refuse to offer custom coding – or at least make us pay for it, like everyone else.
But as my answered tokens illustrate, the team really is committed to helping each customer get the website they want. Sometimes, when what I’ve asked for it too complex, they’ll even do THIS and make the change themselves.
Like I said, I’ve been a happy Elegant Themes customer for about 5 years now, and their support just got better … Now, they offer live chat (!!!).
The introduction of live chat is what really kicks up Elegant Themes for me. They say they typically respond within a few minutes on weekdays (and will followup via email if they’re unavailable). Pretty cool.
If You’re A WordPress Design Newbie Like I Was …
If you’re a website newbie, you might not only be wondering if a premium WordPress theme enough features to make it worth your time.
You’re probably wondering if you actually can use it at all!
I’m living proof that you can absolutely use Elegant Themes without any coding or web design experience. And their flagship, drag-and-drop Divi theme hadn’t even been built yet when I started. Which means that newbies today will have an even easier time than I did.
There’s a learning curve, of course, especially if you are also new to WordPress. But if you can drag and drop things on your desktop, then you can use Elegant Themes.
And if you’re worried about your lack of a graphics design pedigree when it comes to web design, don’t be! These handy little guides will also help:
Finally, Elegant Themes also has premade business layouts that make it even easier to build a website. All you have to do is upload their beautifully designed templates (which have been made by their design experts), and swap out your logo and copy and maybe your images (they also include beautiful on-topic photos you cab also choose). Easy peasy!
Here’s just some of the prebuilt industry websites available, to give you an idea:
And there’s more where that came from – here’s some (but not even all!) of your options:

And then here’s what your front end can look like when you choose these options:
Ultimately, if you’re a small business owner like me, then you’ve got lots of expertise. But your expertise is likely not web design.
I like to let people who have devoted their lives to coding and design to do the heavy lifting behind the scenes, so that I can focus on the stuff that matters more to my business. So when you’re evaluating the features of a premium WordPress theme, make sure get one that looks great and offers great support.
Psssst …. like all the graphics in this post? I built it super easily and FOR FREE using Canva.
